The Strongest Portal Backing Plates You Can Get We use an advanced steel alloy for our backing plates not because we wanted to make them the strongest on the planet, but because it’s what you need. They’re stronger than chromoly and, at 5/16 inches thick, they’ll stand up to anything and everything the trail throws at you. Bearings That Rock We didn’t cut corners with our bearings either. The output bearing is a double-angular contact bearing that’s built to take huge loads from bumps, rocks, logs, and holes without wearing prematurely. We use roller bearings for the idler gears that are designed to withstand the large forces caused by the gear reduction itself. We made them as stronger as possible because we know a bad bearing means a busted box. Universal Hubs and Slotted Rotors Get the braking power you need, when you need it, with our precision-ground, stainless steel slotted rotors that stay cool.
